Fast Travel & Recall Guide

Introduction

The world of Aeternum is expansive and it takes a decent amount of time to get around. Although running will be the main way to travel the world, especially in the early game, there are a few ways to fast travel, decreasing the amount of time spent to travel around. Fast travel is a form of teleportation that will immediately transport the player’s character to the desired location. The forms of fast travel are as follows:

Recall to Inn

The first option is fast travelling to the player’s selected inn. Every settlement in New World contains an inn and when a player visits the settlement, they have the option of setting their inn fast travel to that specific inn (like a homeport) after speaking to the innkeeper. Keep in mind that every player can have only one inn set as their homeport and is on a 60 minute (1 hour) cooldown. This option is great for new players who haven’t bought a house yet or lack Azoth. A player can fast travel to their inn from ANYWHERE in Aeternum but keep in mind that once a player sets their inn at a different settlement, their previous inn will be overridden.

Settlement Fast Travel

Option two is the ability to fast travel to a settlement by spending the Azoth resource. A player can fast travel to any settlement that they have previously fast traveled by spending Azoth; the amount of Azoth depends on how far the player is from said settlement and how much weight they are currently carrying. The farther away the player is and the more weight they are carrying, the more Azoth it will cost to fast travel. The amount of Azoth can also be discounted if the player is in the faction that owns the territory the settlement is in and/or if the player is in the specific company that owns that territory at the time. The fluctuation of cost follows these variables:

  • Base cost: 50 Azoth
  • Distance: 5 Azoth per 100 meters
  • Weight: 4 Azoth per 10 weight

Keep in mind that a player can fast travel to another settlement while visiting another settlement or fast travel shrine (see below).

Personal House Fast Travel

The third option a player can use to fast travel is by house ownership. When a player owns a house, they can fast travel to that settlement by fast travelling to their house in that settlement. The cooldown to fast travel to their house is dependent on what tier of house they own:

  • Tier 1: 4 Hours
  • Tier 2: 3 Hours
  • Tier 3: 2.5 Hours
  • Tier 4: 2 Hours

Each player in New World can own up to a total of three (3) houses, all with an independent cooldown. It is important to note that the cooldown to fast travel to one of the players houses can be reduced with Azoth; in most cases, reducing the cooldown of their house fast travel will cost less than just fast traveling to that settlement.

Spirit Shrines

The fourth and final option is by fast traveling to Spirit Shrines. These Spirit Shrines, found all around Aeternum, must be discovered before a player can fast travel to them. Like option two, fast travelling to these Spirit Shrines cost Azoth and the price depends on how far the player is from said Spirit Shrine and how much weight they are currently carrying. The farther away the player is and the more weight they are carrying, the more Azoth it will cost to fast travel. Spirit Shrines can be very helpful as they are usually the closest fast travel option to different points of interest around Aeternum.

Conclusion

Since there are no mounts in New World, all forms of fast travel will help players get around the map faster and more efficiently. Although a player will receive a lot of Azoth early on in their leveling experience, it should be noted that it is not always like that. It is recommended to not spend all the Azoth that a player has obtained as it can spend in other things, like crafting.
